Wallbrook recognised by B-Corp for its exceptional impact on employees

Wallbrook has been named B-Corp Best For The World for its employee-friendly policies for a second year running

Wallbrook has been named a 2022 Best For The World by B-Corp in recognition of its exceptional positive impact on its workers, placing it in the top 5% of B Corps in the world, the second year running that it has attracted this accolade.

The firm, which is the only organisation in the investigations sector to hold a B Corp certification, received this honour for a number of its employee initiatives including its 100% employee ownership structure, which sees over half the firm owning shares or options with no majority shareholder.

Additionally its equitable compensation, maternity, paternity and shared parental leave support, and investment in training were all recognised in contributing to maintain this distinction.

"Each Best for the World edition is an opportunity to raise the bar for how businesses can and should operate to create real and lasting positive impact for their workers, customers, communities, and the environment," said Dan Osusky, Head of Standards and Insights at B Lab Global. "While no company is perfect and even the best companies can and should continue to strive to improve, the B Corps recognised as Best for the World can provide us all — standards setters, B Corps, non B Corps, and sustainability advocates — with inspiration on what true leadership in business can look like to make progress on addressing our current global challenges.”

The Best For The World is a distinction granted by B Lad to Certified B Corporations (B Corps) whose verified B Impact Scores rank in the top 5% of all B Corps in their corresponding size group.

Jake Lipton, Partner, Wallbrook, commented that “As the workplace continues to evolve as a result of the pandemic, we are thrilled that B Lab has once again recognized us for what we believe is core to our success as a firm: how we treat our staff. The quality of our work - and our associated top ranking in Chambers - is dependent on the calibre and wellbeing of our people.

“This year we bought on board our first Chief People Officer as part of our ongoing investment in our staff and we continue to review our internal processes to ensure we are offering meaningful careers and development to everyone at Wallbrook. We are proud to set the standard in our sector and encourage other firms to join the B Corp movement”.

B Corp Certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service, it assesses the overall social and environmental impact of the company that stands behind it. To achieve B Corp Certification, a company must meet a score of at least 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, an evaluation of a company’s positive impact, and pass a risk review, an evaluation of a company’s negative impact; change their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders; and exhibit transparency by allowing information about their B Corp Certification performance to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
