Based in Toronto, Michael currently advises growth oriented companies in the risk, cyber security, investigations and RegTech space.
Michael spent the majority of his career in London where he was instrumental in the growth and 2013 sale of Billiter, the due diligence and investigative consulting firm, to Stroz Friedberg. Following that acquisition, he joined Stroz Friedberg’s senior management team and in 2015 took over leadership of the firm’s international footprint in London, Zurich, Dubai and Hong Kong. In that role, he oversaw the international operations and go-to-market strategy of business units including diligence & investigations, digital forensics, e-discovery, insider threat, cyber security, and incident response. After Aon acquired Stroz Friedberg in 2016, Michael relocated to Canada where he led the Eastern US & Canada region of the newly formed Aon Cyber Solutions Group.
Throughout his career, Michael has managed complex investigative matters and consulting projects for a wide range of global corporations, financial institutions and law firms. His expertise is in regulatory compliance investigations where he has extensive experience in leading multifaceted global investigations involving fraud, money laundering, hacking and corruption issues.
Michael has a BA from McGill University in Montreal and an MA from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. From 2003 to 2004, he was based in Iraq where he worked as a researcher and lecturer.
